As time progresses young pregnancies, unplanned pregnancies, and the having of children out of wedlock are becoming more prevalent than that of the past. Luckily, unlike before, women are not heavily ridiculed for keeping the child. A difference that I’ve noticed is the extent to which parents take their job as parents. Before parenting seemed more structured, thought-out, and traditional; where as now, parenting is more public, free-flowing, based off of what doctors and social media recommend, and sometimes second to other duties such as work and school. I am a believer in putting your children first, before anything else on this universe. I believe it too is a job to be taken seriously, because if one were to slack off at work, he or she could risk loosing their job; therefore, if he/she slacks off as being a parent, they could risk the chance of loosing or diminishing the precious value of a gift-given from above, named a â€Å"child.† Parenting is a job, it should be a thorough process, and it should be prioritized, and never taken for granted. I can truly attest to being a child that was blessed with amazing parents, named Rashida and Karlos Mays. I was originally born in Alabama, and I owe all my tides to that land. Alabama is a place of family, love, and laughter, but also a place of broken hearts, devastation, and everlasting memories. My father played the lenient role, its safe to say he was â€Å"permissive†.
